From City Leaders: Councilman Wayne Carey & Mayor Capello
“I know you put your heart into this. Talk to Sharon. We want to see it succeed.” – Councilman Wayne Carey, Lebanon City Council Meeting
City officials publicly recognized Sharon’s work at the South Sixth Street Playground, where she solicited support from foundations to raise the funds needed to reopen a park that had been closed for years. By partnering with the city, Sharon matched grant funds essential for playground improvements. During another meeting, Mayor Sherry Capello suggested that the Hilltop Playground Association reach out to Sharon for guidance, seeing her as a model for successful community revitalization.
Mayor Sherry Capello told another playground association that the South Sixth Street Playground had been revived through Sharon’s fundraising efforts and state grants. She personally offered to introduce the association to Sharon so they could learn from her hands-on approach to rebuilding essential community spaces.
From UPMC President: Mark S. Sevco
“It gives me great pleasure to recommend Sharon Zook as a highly qualified and engaged community leader… Sharon has an outstanding academic pedigree but is better known as a community servant leader for her engagement in many projects and organizations. … She helped raise $110,000 to create two state-of-the-art basketball courts in the heart of Lebanon County. … I have learned that these ‘get it done’ skills are so important for success and Sharon has all of them and much more.”
